MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCIV) -- South Carolina residents now only have one place to redeem their winning lottery tickets worth more than $500.

On Friday the South Carolina Education Lottery officials will be closing their redemption centers in Mount Pleasant and Greenville.

The decision to close the two claims centers will ultimately maximize the funds transferred to the state to support education in South Carolina.

Any prizes up to $500 can still be redeemed at any lottery retailer, but winning amounts up to $100,000 will have to be collected at the redemption center in Columbia or by mail.

Prizes worth more than $100,000 must be claimed in person in Columbia.
