Lowcountry Heart Walk

Did you know that for every hour of regular, vigorous exercise, you could gain two hours of life expectancy? That's a great reason to join the My Heart. My Life. movement. Let's walk for fun and a great cause.

Join the Lowcountry Heart Walk!

The Lowcountry Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's mission in action. This annual celebration promotes physical activity and heart healthy living in a fun, family and dog friendly
environment. There is a Survivor Reception for Cardiovascular & Stroke survivors and their
caregivers. More than 5000 walkers are anticipated to participate in this non competitive
one or three mile walk event. As our signature fundraising event, the Lowcountry Heart Walk is
raising critical dollars for the American Heart Association's lifesaving mission.

Who: 5,000 walkers from over 90 companies and organizations with their friends and families.

What: Three mile walk with a one mile short course. Includes a health and wellness expo for the entire family prior to walk.

When: Saturday, September 29, 2012

Where: Liberty Square, 340 Concord Street, next to the SC Aquarium **free parking**
8 am Activities Start, 9 am Walk Starts

Why: Step out in the fight against heart disease and stroke.

Measuring Your Heart Rate

Heart rate is widely accepted as a good method for measuring intensity during running, swimming, cycling, and other aerobic activities. Exercise that doesn’t raise your heart rate to a certain level and keep it there for 20 minutes won’t contribute significantly to cardiovascular fitness. The heart rate you should maintain is called your target heart rate. Use our Target Heart Rate Calculator to find out your heart rate.
