Petrino's Razorbacks Getting Tougher

Posted: Updated:

Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino says he has seen his team getting tougher as the month of August has unfolded and it's something he's extremely proud of.

"We are more physical, there is no doubt about it," said Petrino, who is entering his third season with the Hogs. "We're more physical on the offensive and defensive front. Our running backs have done a nice job, mentally, saying that they are going to run downhill."

The Razorbacks practiced twice on Wednesday in preparation for the season opener. The entire team worked out at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium during the morning and newcomers worked out at Walker Pavilion in the afternoon.

Thursday is a closed practice and only one final practice remains open to the public, which is Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. It's also Razorback Fan Day, which will take place at the Gardens, located south of Bud Walton Arena.

The event is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. and includes a photo zone with Tusk III, a kid's zone with inflatable games and food vendors and a pep rally, scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Players and coaches as well as the mascots and spirit squad will sign autographs from 2 to 4 p.m.

Arkansas' season opener is two weeks from Saturday in Fayetteville against Tennessee Tech. The game will start at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast only on a pay-per-view basis.
