One of your New Year's resolutions could be to improve your credit score in 2011. But there are some things you might think would help your score that can actually hurt it.

Your credit score is that three digit number that lenders use to gauge your creditworthiness.  MSN Money came up with the "weird stuff that can wreck your credit". Here are a few of them:

• You can lose points for voluntarily closing credit card accounts.
• You can also get dinged for transferring credit card balances.  
• Settling debts can still do substantial damage to your score if you settle a current debt for less than you owe.
• That library fine or parking ticket you haven't paid may be passed on to a collection agency, which could report it to the credit bureaus.
