Commemoration event at Pickett Bride slated for April 12

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Officials with the Town Of Mount Pleasant announced on Wednesday that the town will join several Lowcountry municipalities and organizations in a Lowcountry Civil War Commemoration on Tuesday, April 12.

The commemoration will be held from 7 a.m. - 8:15 p.m. at the Pickett Bridge Recreation Area (formerly Pitt Street Bridge).

Residents of the Old Village in the vicinity of the Pickett Bride Recreation Area should expect the following activities throughout the day:

• Initial cannon barrage at 7:00 a.m.

• 1-2 cannon volleys per hour until 7:45 pm • Final continuous cannon barrage: 7:45 - 8:15 pm

Viewing areas include:

• Pickett Bridge Recreation Area (Cannon Volleys, Living History, Re-enactors) April 12, 2011 7:00 am – 8:15 pm • Alhambra Hall & Park (Fort Sumter Lighting) Blue Lights: April 11, 2011 Orange/Red Lights: April 12, 2011 At dusk
