If she isn't reporting the news Monday – Friday during the evening newscasts, Valencia spends her time with ABC News 4 shooting, editing, producing or filling in for the weekend anchor.
Valencia joined WCIV-TV in August of 2010. In that time, she has reported on stories of both tragedy and triumph, but has a passion for what she calls, "stories of the heart".
Before moving to Charleston, Valencia worked in New York City as a production assistant from Good Morning America and America This Morning. Prior to that, Valencia worked with the investigative unit at FOX 25 News in Boston, Massachusetts.
As a child, Valencia would say, "I want to do the news". But, it wasn't until Valencia worked as a writer for PINK Magazine (a primarily web-based publication for career-oriented women) that she knew journalism was the perfect fit for an inquisitive, talkative, people-person like herself.
Valencia is a proud graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. She also earned a masters degree in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College in Boston.
When she isn't juggling scripts and a tripod, Valencia enjoys reading, great food, her family and friends.
