Canoe, kayak festival returns to Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Hundreds of paddlers have returned to South Carolina for the annual East Coast Canoe and Kayak Festival.

The event, now in its 21st year at James Island County Park near Charleston, opens on Friday and continues through the weekend.

The festival includes talks, demonstrations and classes on the water for everyone from novice paddlers to experts.

There are also about 50 exhibitors displaying the latest gear and accessories for canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.
