Winter Weather Contest Winner

Now that winter is over and we are heading into warmer weather and summer, it's time to announce the winner of the snowfall contest. On average Tulsa receives 9.2" of snowfall a year. In the 2010-2011 winter, Tulsa received 26.1" of snowfall. In fact, Tulsa ranked third in the country as a city that received the highest amount of snowfall compared to the city's average annual amount. This past winter, Tulsa received 256% of its average annual amount of snowfall. Other cities on the top ten list of cities that received the highest snowfall amounts compared to their average annual amounts include:

1. Columbia, MO with 51.6" of snowfall (346% above normal)

2. Paducah, KY with 27.9" of snowfall (271% above normal)

3. Tulsa, OK with 26.1" of snowfall (256% above normal)

4. Newark, NJ with 66" of snowfall (239% above normal)

5. Bridgeport, CT with 60.1" of snowfall (229% above normal)

6. New York, NY with 61" of snowfall (221% above normal)

7. Philadelphia, PA with 44" of snowfall (218% above normal)

8. Youngstown, OH with 114.7" of snowfall (215% above normal)

9. Williston, ND with 87.6" of snowfall (209% above normal)

10. Boston, MA with 79.1" of snowfall (192% above normal)

 

Before the winter started, we asked our viewers to guess the amount of snowfall Tulsa would receive during the 2010-2011 winter. Snowstar33 was the closest with a guess of 15". Congratulations!
