Don't let wet weather cloud your weekend

Don't let the wet weather cloud over your weekend! The Lowcountry offers tons of fun to keep the gloom out of your forecast, from weekly events like Fridays on the Point and Movies in Marion Square to the Charleston Harbor Fest and Sculpture in the South.

Tall ships have taken over Charleston's harbor for Charleston Harbor Fest 2011. From harbor tours and boat tours to storytelling performances by Charleston Pirate Tours, the festival offers fun for the whole family. Harbor Fest sailed into the Lowcountry on Thursday and continues through the weekend.

The Dragon Boat Races are here! This Saturday, Brittlebank Park's most anticipated festival showcases teams of 20 paddlers blazing their way down the Ashley River in traditional 41 foot dragon boats. Come out and cheer on your favorite teams while supporting the Lowcountry's cancer survivors.

Arts Education Week wraps up on Friday, but that doesn't mean the fun has to end there. Head out to Azalea Park in Summerville on Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. for Sculpture in the South. Thirty-five sculptors will be on hand selling their works and mingling with crowds. Meet the sculptors Friday night from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. and get a sneak peek at their newest pieces at an exclusive reception. Tickets must be purchased for the reception.

The Charleston Showa Koi Club partners with the Charleston Animal Society on Saturday for their annual Pond and Water Garden Tour. Guests will learn about koi and pond design as more than 25 private gardens will be available for public tours. The tour finishes up at the Charleston Animal Society with a cookout, prizes and of course, adoptable animals.

The Rein and Shine organization puts on its annual fundraiser on Saturday From 1 p.m. until 7 p.m., head on out to the Rein and Shine Barn in Awendaw for food, an inflatable slide, a mechanical bull and live music from Tidal Jive, Jason and the Juggernauts, Plainfield Project, the Bushels and Jeff Clark, just to name a few. Tickets are $25, and all proceeds go to help with horseback riding therapy for those with disabilities.

Shem Creek goes Caribbean Sunday afternoon. Vickery's Bar and Grill hosts live music from Dub Island and the Duplates along with Dream Merchants Youth Reggae Band for the 5th Annual Reggae on the Creek. Join the jammin' from noon until sunset and enjoy drink specials and special Caribbean cuisine.
