DUI case against officer dismissed

WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCIV) -- The DUI case against a North Charleston police officer has been dismissed.

Officials with the Colleton County Clerk's Office confirmed on Thursday that a Colleton County judge dismissed the case because of a lack of evidence.

Hampton Jenkins was arrested in Colleton County on December 30, 2010 while off duty, in his personal vehicle.

Jenkins was placed on administrative leave following the incident. Officials said his future with the North Charleston Police Department would be based on the outcome of the court case.

He was one of four North Charleston officers charged with DUI in recent months.
