Lowcountry Leisure: By Ashley Lindquist

School's out and the weather is beautiful, so you have no excuses not to enjoy this weekend! Spoleto is still in full force this weekend, but take a break from the arts and get the family to some of these Lowcountry favorites.

The Charleston RiverDogs take the field this weekend against the Rome Braves. Saturday night, the first 1,000 fans will receive FREE RiverDogs salt and pepper shakers! It's also "Tony the Peanut Man Night" at the Joe, and Tony himself will be on hand debuting a new super hero costume and giving out peanut specials ad samples. As always, Saturday games are Go Local, meaning all Tri-County residents receive $1 off a ticket with a valid ID.

Sister Hazel takes over The Windjammer this weekend, "All For You"! The group is no stranger to the Isle of Palms. They've been making you "Happy" year after year with their annual benefit weekend. If "Life Got in the Way" this week, come unwind at the beach with these guys. Be sure to check our website to watch their live performance on Friday's Lowcounty Live.

As the weather heats up, so does competition in local street races. Two big races in the Lowcountry this Saturday: the Green and Lean 5K and the Floppin' Flounder 5K. The Green Lean race leaves Brittlebank Park at 8 a.m. and rewards top runners with cash prizes. First place stroller and leashed dog will also receive awards. The Charleston Running Club's Floppin' Flounder 5K starts at Sullivan's Island Fish Fry Shack at 8 a.m.

Rubber duckie, you're the one. Well, we hope you are! If you're rubber duckie IS the one, you'll win $1 MILLION! Sponsor a rubber duck for just $10 in this year's Charity Duck Race put on by the Rotary Club and you could win big. At 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, 30,000 rubber ducks will drop from the Daniel Island Community Dock. Events run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Trust me, this one is a must see!

Nothing says Charleston quite like sweetgrass. Head down to Waterfront Memorial Park Saturday at noon for the Sweetgrass Festival. Celebrate Gullah Geechee culture, handmade arts and crafts, live performance, films and cuisine as more than fifteen restaurants and food vendors will be onsite. Festivals goers will have opportunities to purchase handmade sweetgrass baskets and Gullah cookbooks. The best part: admission and parking are FREE!

Tea for two? How about tea for you while you and all your friends enjoy a fashion show? Students at The Art Institute are hosting A Tea Party to benefit the Charleston Animal Society Sunday in Hampton Park from 4 to 6 p.m. Enjoy you tea (or coffee) with a sweet treat and live music. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students. Prime and proper attire is optional!

Need even more big names and live music than Spoleto or Sister Hazel have to offer? How about Travis Tritt and Bo Bice? The two country stars take the stage at Boone Hall Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Gates open at 6, so be sure to get there early so you don't miss a note. Adult beverages will be available, but bring your cash. Leave the pets and the coolers at home, please.
