KNIGHTSVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- According to an incident report, when detectives knocked on the front door of the home, they saw at least three people running around the home hiding items used to make meth.
Four suspects are now in custody, after deputies uncovered a meth lab in a Dorchester County neighborhood.
According to a sheriff's office spokesman, the methamphetamine laboratory was located at 133 Coronet Street in the Meadow Run subdivision.
Deputies say their Metro Narcotics Unit was tipped off about the lab around 7 p.m. on Friday. According to a report, they said they could smell a strong chemical odor associated with methamphetamine manufacturing emitting from the residence.
Authorities then obtained a warrant to search the house and detained four people.
The narcotics unit then worked until 4 a.m. on Saturday, dismantling the meth lab, and removing all the hazardous chemicals. Deputies said the cleanup effort went on despite a line of heavy thunderstorms that rolled into Summerville late that night.
The four people charged in connection to the meth bust have been identified as David C. William Jr., Gerald Smith, Rhonda Morgan of Summerville and Faith McCutcheon from Ruffin, S.C.
They are all being charged with methamphetamine and manufacturing methamphetamine within a half mile proximity of a school.
Deputies said all four suspects were "decontaminated" before being transported to the Dorchester County Jail.
Records show that Smith and McCutcheon were currently out on bond for a methamphetamine charge from April.
