COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCIV) -- Meet your National Champion South Carolina Gamecocks.
More than 10,000 fans packed the Colonial Life Arena Wednesday in Columbia, to welcome home the back to back, college baseball champions. South Carolina defeated the Florida Gators Tuesday night to capture their second consecutive championship.
The team arrived around 5:30 p.m. to a hero's welcome.
"It seems like Monday night they took the Gator's soul, they didn't have a chance last night," said one fan. "I thought they'd go back to back all season."
Outside the arena the mood was just as energized. Around Columbia, across campus, Gamecocks fans proudly and confidently celebrated the win.
"To just celebrate the championship, back to back, it doesn't happen often," said Samuel Spurlock. "We'll celebrate while we can."
