Completing mundane chores can be 'quick as a fox'

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- If there is not enough time in your day to do the mundane chores, or you just don't feel like it -- now you can hire someone to do them for you... Better yet, why not learn a language with your extra time?

These are services a new Charleston company called QuickFoxes offers.

"Imagine the whole service branch of craigslist exported out of that and done in a secure manner for the community," CEO Mark Schwartz said.

QuickFoxes offers 230 services, ranging from cleaning, dog walking, personal chef, and lessons in a foreign language.

"You name it, we have it," Schwartz said.

The workers are called foxes, which Schwartz said represents their quickness at doing the work.

Customers have to log on to the web site, choose the category and the job they need. Then they must select the fox they wish to hire. Each fox has a profile that lists their credentials.

"Every person goes through a 10-year background check," Schwartz said. "You can see everyone's profiles you know their credentials, and we referenced checked everyone," he said.

Schwartz said all work is guaranteed.

Adam Desautels used QuickFoxes for the first time last week. He hired two foxes to walk the dogs, clean dirty dishes, and take laundry to the dry cleaners. He said this company is suitable for people like himself who do not have a minute to spare.

"I love it. It's one of those things where I own my business so it requires a lot of travel, long hours. So for me to be able to call, have them do the task that I don't have time for is a great help to me," he said.

Schwartz said he came up with the idea after a road trip across the country. He saw the number of unemployed with a strong skill set that he decided there must be a portal to market these people for jobs.

"All these people could be used to work somehow. They can get jobs and make a living by doing their own job whatever they're skilled in."

For Desautels, he said time is valuable and this service helps him operate his business better.

"The money I pay QuickFoxes actually ends up saving me a lot of money in the long run," he said. I can spend the same amount of time working on things that make me more money."

If a fox is available for the day and time you selected, they have 30 minutes to be there.

The business has been in operation for about a week and has had a lot of people using the service already, Schwartz said.
