Charleston, S.C. (WCIV) -- Times my may tough, but people still have big hearts. Donations are up at the Medical University of South Carolina.
MUSC says charitable giving reached a record $83 million dollars for the fiscal year ending last month. That's up 8 percent from the previous year.
A report from the GVING USA Foundation last month said most nonprofit's saw increases of only about half that.
What's more, MUSC says it has seen a spike in both the number of donors and the number of gifts.
So despite the sluggish economy, its seems people are still willing to give.
