MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- The 10th anniversary of September 11th memorials took place across the Holy City on Sunday, from downtown to the Yorktown.

On the USS Yorktown, names from victims lost on September 11th, and those who have died fighting in the War on Terror in Afghanistan and Iraq ,were read by over 200 participants from the Armed Forces to the Boy Scouts of America.

"In order to make people really understand the significance of this and how it affected so many American families was to read the names of everyone who was killed on 9/11," said Patriots Point Executive Director, Mac Burdette.

"Patriots Point felt it was very important to offer the public a place to come and reflect on what that date in history means," Burdette said.

Over 400 people attended the ceremony that lasted 3 hours.

"We hope people always see Patriots Point and USS Yorktown as a place that they can come and reflect about sacrifice," said Burdette.
