An end in sight?

Posted: Updated:

Charleston, S.C. (WCIV) -- It's almost over! Road work on one of the busiest parts of town is about to be complete.

But, not without a couple more growing pains.

The good news-- officials say the exit ramp onto Aviation Avenue from I-26 East will open late Wednesday night, as will the two entrance ramps on I-26 West from Aviation.

Also, the new right lane of I-26 West will open just past Aviation, continuing through the end of the construction area.

The not so good news-- once the ramps are open, the I-26 West entrance ramp at Remount and the I-26 East exit ramp onto Remount road will close for several weeks. This is to finish work on the new lanes and divider wall between the Aviation and Remount exits.

The really good news-- once the work is done, these ramps will re-open permanently. So hang on, be patient, and watch for detours, it will hopefully be over.
