CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- At a press conference on Tuesday afternoon it was learned that Amanda Kalman Black was killed on Thursday of last week, her body left in her home until discovered by law enforcement officers on Friday afternoon.

Officials with the Charleston County Coroner's Office said she bled to death from a stabbing wound to her neck in an area of her home near the entry way and bathroom.

Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O'Neal said Amanda Black died from a single stab wound to the neck that struck a carotid artery.

Family members say they learned of her death from Black's 4-year-old daughter, who witnessed the violent event.

"We were called as a result of a 4-year-old telling her aunt, the sister of the victim in St. George, that her mother was dead and father had cut her," Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon said.

Cannon said investigators believe Black's husband, the suspect in the murder, and their children, stayed in the home overnight.

Beverly Holcome, the sister of Amanda Kalman Black said she was the last to see the man suspected of killing her sister. She said he dropped his 4-year-old off at her house wearing nothing but panties. She phoned police once her niece said what happened, and drove to the West Ashley home

"I had to look at the crime scene and see her," Holcome said. "I hope he gets what he deserves. He obviously didn't think of her friends or her family. ...I would have never seen this coming in a million years."

Investigators say Chesley Jones Black Jr. stabbed his wife. Deputies responded to their home on Fife Lane at 4:15 p.m. on Friday to find her dead. Chesley Black was nowhere to be found.

Also missing was the couple's two-year-old daughter.

Both Chesley Black and the two-year-old were found late on Friday night in Sumter. Black was arrested and transported back to Charleston on Monday.

Chesley Black was denied bond on Tuesday morning. He is charged with murder.

Officials have said the believe the incident developed from ongoing domestic violence in the household.

"Amanda Black did have some scratches which lets us know there was altercation of some kind," Coroner O'Neil said.

The two reported incidents, one in 2005, the other in 2009, never made it to the legal system. Sheriff Cannon said Amanda Black chose not to press charges.
