EMS worker accused of taking drugs from patient

Posted: Updated:

MONCKS CORNER (WCIV) - A Berkeley County EMS worker responding to a fatal accident may have helped more than she should have. At least that is what the S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating.

Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres says they are looking into accusations the woman took marijuana from the pants of an injured felony DUI suspect and tried to hide it, while helping her with her injuries in a crash last week.

Authorities say the accident happened on Broughton Road last Thursday night. That's where they say 33 year old Shana Robinson of Moncks Corner crossed the center line and struck the driver of another car head on. That woman, 47 year old Candy Zoll later died at the hospital. Robinson was charged with felony DUI.

Cpl. Beres says they're looking into allegations an unidentified EMS worker grabbed the drugs from Shana Robinson, in attempt to conceal them. But he won't say how they learned about it.
