NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Investigators say the local composer of songs for popular children's shows that acquired federal charges on Monday admitted to producing and sharing child pornography.
According to documents obtained on Tuesday, 59-year-old Fernando Rivas had two pictures found on his computer by investigators. They showed a child under the age of five, tied to a bed with soft restraints.
Investigators with the North Charleston Police Department were led to Rivas' home with the assistance of the FBI following an arrest in New Jersey. In that case, the source of child pornography in that person's possession was believed to be Fernando Rivas.
Fernando Rivas is known worldwide for his contribution to Disney's Handy Manny. He also composed promotional spots for Nickelodeon. In 1995 and 1996, he received two Emmys for work with Sesame Street.
