CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man who created chaos in three counties on Friday night has acquired two new attempted murder charges.
Now, in total, Lonnie Lamar Hazelton has garnered four attempted murder charges in his accused carjacking spree that spanned Berkeley, Charleston and Georgetown counties.
Officials say it all began in Jamestown, S.C. when Hazelton sped by a woman in a minivan and flipped his car. The woman got out to help, but she and officials say Hazelton pulled a gun and demanded her vehicle.
From there, he went to McClellanville, where during another carjacking he exchanged gunfire with Charleston County deputies.
Hazelton was eventually taken into custody in Georgetown.
Officials say the new charges are a result of Hazelton's shooting at a man in McClellanville he carjacked.
According to an incident report, while in the stolen minivan from Jamestown, Hazelton pulled up next to a man in a white Pontiac Vibe and began shooting. As the driver pulled over, according to the report, Hazelton told the man to "get the f--- out of the car" before he jumped in the car and drove away.
The other two attempted murder charges come from what officers describe as Hazelton's attempt to strike a deputy with the Pontiac Vibe and his alleged exchange of gunfire with officers.
