COLLETON, S.C. (WCIV) -- An important court hearing in the case of State v. Jacoby Fields and Travis Harris is scheduled for Wednesday.

Fields and Harris are accused of murdering Colleton County Sheriff's Deputy Dennis Compton in August 2008.

Deputy Compton was shot and killed while responding to a burglary call at a home in Smoaks, SC about 20 miles from Walterboro.

A month-long manhunt followed and ended with the arrest of the two then-teenagers.

Colleton County investigators say Travis Harris and Jacoby Fields broke into several homes, including the one in Smoaks that ended in the death of Deputy Dennis Compton.

No further information will be released until the hearing. The case is being prosecuted by Solicitor
Duffie Stone and Deputy Solicitor Sean Thornton.
