
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The U.S. Geological Survey has reported a 2.6 magnitude earthquake that happened at 4:38 p.m. about eight miles east of Cottageville, S.C.
The earthquake, according to the USGS, was about 12 miles southwest of Summerville.
Wednesday's shake marks the second in the area in less than a month. On December 7, the USGS confirmed there was a 2.2 magnitude quake reported just outside of Summerville and about five miles from Ladson and Lincolnville.
