OSU's Johnny Thomas Declares For NFL Draft

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma State is losing another player to the NFL Draft.

Johnny Thomas, who was expected to be the starting safety for the Cowboys in 2011, was ruled academically ineligible and did not play this season.

His name is on the NFL's list of 65 underclassmen who have been granted special eligibility for the 2012 NFL Draft, which will be held in late April.

Thomas played in 35 games in three seasons for the Cowboys, including 11 starts as a junior in 2010 when he recorded 63 tackles and intercepted three passes.

He joins star receiver Justin Blackmon as early entries for the NFL Draft.

The deadline for receiving applications was Sunday.
