Two arrested, another wanted in theft of 51 lawnmowers

ORANGEBURG, SC (WCIV) -- Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced today that two people have been arrested and another is still wanted in the theft of 51 lawn mowers from a local manufacturing plant.

Police arrested 52-year-old Danny Davis of Denmark and 28-year-old Chiquita Haynes of Orangeburg for grand larceny. Officials are still searching for 42 year old Darion Priester of Gaston, SC in connection with the crime.

"On December 30th, an employee of the lawn mower manufacturing facility notified the Sheriff's Office that a trailer containing lawn mowers was missing from a storage site," said Ravenell.

"Fifty-one lawn mowers were stolen and to date, we have recovered 21. The lawn mowers are valued at $1,000 each."

Upon retrieval of the trailer, both Davis and Haynes were arrested and charged with grand larceny.
