GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- Officials with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office say several arrests were made this month for the trafficking of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine.
Sheriff's office spokesman Dan Moon said investigators responded to a complaint of drug activity at 120 S. Crangord Rd. on January 6. At the scene, investigators located various drug paraphernalia in the residence as well as approximately 5.2 gross grams of a substance that field tested positive for heroin.
Christopher Hayes, 29, of that address was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin and unlawful possession of prescription drugs (Xanax).
While conducting street level investigations in the area of Broughton Rd. in the Moncks Corner area on January 16, a traffic stop was made on a vehicle being driven erratically.
Agents suspected that illegal drugs might be in the vehicle, and following a K-9 alert, a search of the vehicle turned up 13.5 gross grams of methamphetamine. Joseph Coltharp, 43, of 923 Broughton Rd. Moncks Corner was charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
After being stopped by deputies on a traffic violation at Collage Park Rd. and Highway 17-A on January 19, Edmond Franklin, 20, of 5446 Marie St. North Charleston, was arrested on charges of Trafficking Cocaine, unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
Drug enforcement agents searched Franklin prior to being place their vehicle and found a bag of white powder substance which tested positive for cocaine. The firearm was found in the vehicle as well.
