JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV)-- Charleston County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a John's Island restaurant for a shooting Sunday night.

The shooting happened at the Mexican Cantina on Maybank Highway near Cordray's Grocery and Feed store.  Deputies found 31 year-old Ricardo Contreras with a gunshot wound to his left knee.

Witnesses told deputies that Contreras had gotten into an argument with a suspect inside the bar. They took the fight outside to the parking lot and that's when the suspect pulled out a black pistol, pushed Contreras to the ground and shot him in the leg.

The suspect then rushed towards the victim's cousin, Francisco Contreras. The suspect chased Francisco towards the back of the restaurant, shot at him twice and missed.

The suspect then, along with a second suspect who witnesses say was also armed and is the first suspect's son, drove off in a red Saturn SUV.

Ricardo Contreras was transported to MUSC for his injuries.

The shooter is described as an Hispanic male in his 50's, approximately 5 foot 6 inches and weighing around 190 pounds wearing a black cowboy hat.

His son is described as an Hispanic male in his 20's, around 5 foot 7 inches and weighing around 170 pounds.
