ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office Major Rene Williams announced on Saturday the arrest of a Eutawville man and the seizure of $20,000 worth of marijuana.
"Officers were conducting an investigation of a burglary which led them to an address on Monks Corner Road," Williams said. "As officers approached the home, they were able to observe an item believed to have been stolen in a burglary."
Williams said officers obtained a search warrant for Maurice Tyrone Johnson's home. Once inside, they were able to verify the serial numbers of a television as stolen from another home. Also during the search, officers located a total of 10 pounds of marijuana, two shotguns, and a .357 pistol.
"This was a joint operation across three sheriff's office divisions to not only recovery stolen property but to seize weapons and prevent thousands of dollars of marijuana from reaching the streets of this county," Williams said.
Johnson has been released on a $21,000 bond.
