Burglar breaks into home, shoots and kills dog

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)-- North Charleston police are looking for any information on a burglar who broke into a home and killed the Boxer trying to guard it.

On Wednesday, Jan. 25th, North Charleston police were called to a home on Wild Indigo Bluff in the Indigo Fields subdivision off of Dorchester Road.

The homeowner reported to police that he returned home from work to find his back gate open, the double doors to his screened porch open, and the screen on the porch cut open.

He checked the inside of his home and found blood on the carpet in the room above the garage and then found his pet Boxer behind the couch, wounded.

He rushed his dog to the vet where the Boxer was pronounced dead. He had been shot five times.

The burglar had stolen a Playstation 3 game console, laptop, and a two-dollar bill.
