CSU will host Wofford in BracketBuster game

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern men's basketball team will play host to the Wofford Terriers on Saturday, February 18 as part of ESPN's BracketBusters, the network announced today along with the Big South Conference.

CSU defeated UNC Wilmington on the road, 63-58, in its inaugural BracketBusters contest last year. The Bucs are part of a field that includes a record 142 programs spanning across 16 conferences. For the first time in the event's ten-year history, all 11 Big South members will participate.

Wofford has established itself as a perennial Southern Conference contender under the direction of 23rd-year head coach Mike Young. The Terriers won 20 games, captured the SoCon Conference Tournament and secured the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament each of the last two seasons. Despite graduating five seniors, Wofford (14-8, 7-3) currently sits in second place in the SoCon's Southern Division, behind only Davidson.

CSU leads the all-time series between the two 10-8, but has dropped the last two meetings, with the latest an 84-65 setback in December of 2004. The teams have not met since Barclay Radebaugh became CSU head coach prior to the 2005-2006 season.

The Bucs will continue their Big South schedule in the meantime, beginning with a visit to Campbell on Thursday at 7 p.m. CSU (14-7, 8-3) moved into third place by virtue of its 75-64 victory over Presbyterian Saturday, and another triumph over the Fighting Camels would mark the club's second five-game winning streak of the campaign.
