CHARLESTON, S. C. (WCIV) -- The hit musical Mary Poppins is ready to make its debut in the Lowcountry.

Curtains come up for the touring musical on Wednesday at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.

Touring Director Anthony Lyn says the production brings big New York-quality talent to smaller cities like Charleston.

"It's a huge production," Lyn said. "It has every element you'd expect of a massive Broadway musical that happens to be in your town."

The touring production travels with 250 costumes and ensemble members change seven to 10 times during the show.

Rachel Wallace plays Mary Poppins. She says the role has brought her many challenges and lots of laughter.

"I've really fallen completely in love with this part so much to the point that I can't really imagine life without Mary," Wallace said.

The production runs from February 1st to February 4th and tickets range from $50 to $80. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.
