NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)-- It's called a lullaby bell and it plays in North Charleston's
Trident Health Hospital every time a baby is born.
Angela Smith says she was touched when she heard the bell ringing to honor her new daughter, Callie.
The new Trident Health bell plays the tune of 'Brahms' Lullaby' whenever a baby is born, and can be heard throughout the entire hospital, from the maternity ward, to the cafeteria, and even the valet stand.
Vice President of Marketing, Pam Brock, was instrumental in getting the bell system installed and
says she's already seen how the lullaby has lifting up the spirits of the hospital staff.
"Staff have said 'Oh my gosh, we love this' and it just brings a positive note to every day,"
said Brock. "We hear it several times a day as we have 8 to 12 babies delivered every day."
The lullaby bell has only been in place for two weeks, but Brock says it's a gift that keeps on
giving.
"It serves as a tiny respite in the middle of the day for these people that are working so hard
to save lives and do great things for people," she said. "Hospitals are serious places and it's
nice to have that little breather in the middle of the day."
Smith says she'll be telling baby Callie about the bell one day, a sweet sound she'll never forget to celebrate the precious moment of a new life.
Trident Health says the lullaby bell will soon be making its way to their second hospital at Summerville Medical Center.
