SC DMV worker admits fraud in license case

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles employee who issued a commercial license to someone who never took the tests has pleaded guilty.

Authorities said 40-year-old Brenda Poston of Florence could face up to five years in prison when she is sentenced. Poston pleaded guilty Thursday to issuing fraudulent commercial driver's licenses and obtaining a fraudulent Social Security number.

Prosecutors say Poston went into the agency's computers and indicated someone passed the tests needed to get a commercial driver's license when the person had not passed the written or driving tests.

Poston also faces a fine of up to $250,000.
