MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) -- After investigating the escape of an inmate from the Berkeley County Detention Center,  Dan Moon with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has announced that disciplinary action has been taken.

"The safety of Berkeley County citizens are of the utmost concern to the Sheriff's Office and the detention center," said Moon. "After an investigation and thorough review, one employee was terminated, one was demoted, and two were suspended, all for failing to follow procedures."

James Sanders, 39, escaped from the Berkeley County Detention Center on January 26th. He is still at large.

He was last spotted in the Sangaree neighborhood of Summerville on February 1st.

Sanders was serving charges of criminal domestic violence. Moon says the department does not believe Sanders is a danger to the public.

If you see James Sanders you are asked to call 911.
