CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)-- Charleston firefighters responded to a fire at a condo on Treescape Drive off of Ashley River Road in West Ashley Thursday morning.
The residents were evacuated from the building located in the Ashleytowne subdivision. The Red Cross has provided assistance to four adults who were displaced from the fire.
The cause is still under investigation.
The Red Cross says two adults who were evacuated lived in an apartment that sustained major damage from the fire. They have provided the two with lodging at a nearby hotel, along with money to help replace food and clothing lost in the fire.
Also according to the Red Cross, two other adults were displaced because of water damage. They are also being put up in a nearby hotel.
Since January 1st, the local chapter of the Red Cross has provided assistance to 135 people in the seven-county region.
