MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Charleston County Coroner's Office has confirmed that David Hedrick was discovered dead inside his home at 2338 North Creek Drive in Mount Pleasant around 12:45 p.m. on Friday. According to a missing person report on Dara Lee Watson, he is her fiance.

Deputy coroner, Scott Ramsey, won't confirm how he died -- only to say it is under investigation. Neighbors of Hedrick say they heard what appeared to be several loud bangs Friday night.

According to the missing person's report filed with the Mount Pleasant Police Department, investigators recently spoke with Hedrick. They say he stated he and Dara Watson had an argument on Monday night and that Tuesday morning she left and he hadn't heard from her since.

On Saturday morning, law enforcement officers with multiple agencies were searching a wooded area off Halfway Creek Road in the Francis Marion National Forest.

"You got DNR out here, Charleston County, Mount Pleasant Police Department. Charleston County is the lead in the investigation out at this point," said Mount Pleasant police chief Harry Sewell.

Sewell confirmed they were searching for clues in the disappearance of 30-year-old Dara Watson. She was reported missing on Friday, and later that afternoon, according to Chief Sewell, workers with the U.S. Forestry Commission discovered her burnt car in the woods near Halfway Creek Road.

"The vehicle was towed and is being searched for evidence," Sewell said.

Sewell said investigators had no idea how long the SUV had been in the woods.

"We're looking at all the pieces," he said.

Officials with the Mount Pleasant Police Department say her cell phone was last used February 8 at 7:30 p.m. They say, according to cell tower information, the call was made around the Venning Road area of Mount Pleasant.

Investigators say Watson's boss received a text message on February 8 stating she was fine, but she has not been seen or heard from since.

"We're just trying our best to locate this young lady," Sewell said.

Anyone in contact with Dara Lee Watson is asked to contact the Mount Pleasant Police Department at 843-884-4176.

Watson is approximately 5-foot-4 and 127 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes.
