CCSD asking for feedback

Posted: Updated:

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Charleston County School District has a five-year plan to improve in areas of literacy, effective teaching, systems and partnerships. Believe it or not, the district wants your feedback.

Monday at 6 p.m. CCSD will host a feedback session at R.B. Stall High School in North Charleston.

It isn't the first attempt the district has made in involving the public in its strategic plan. In December 2011, parents and employees were asked to complete engagement surveys. They were "baseline" surveys, giving the district a starting point for discussion. The board of trustees received copies of the survey results, and department heads and principals are being trained on the roll-out of survey results and next steps.

From those surveys, it was determined one of the biggest weaknesses of the district was communication with parents and involvement from the community as appropriate when developing new ideas or strategy.

And, that's where Monday's meeting comes into play.
