SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- "He's dead, he's dead, he's dead," -- It was heard clearly in the background as the uncle of 13-year-old Joshua Mendoza spoke to 911 dispatchers.

Over crying and sounds of desperation in the background the man told dispatchers on February 10 his disabled nephew had been found dead. Panic was the feel on the line with the caller as well, as dispatchers asked the man to speak slower so they could gather information.

"My sister just found my nephew dead, and they don't know what's wrong," the man said. "She tried to resuscitate him. He's disabled. He's not breathing anymore."

The man said his sister, Kimberly Love, had just gotten back home from a hair appointment. My sister just got back from getting her hair done.

Kimberly Love and her husband, Jason Buckley, were later taken into law enforcement custody. According to a report completed by Dorchester coroner Chris Nisbet, the child died of malnutrition. The couple is expected to appear in bond court on March 30 and their other children have been placed in DSS custody.

Those close to Love and Buckley have publicly defended their innocence. Love's sister, Shauna Beach says the two never neglected their child. She says her sister's life revolved around taking care of Joshua and her three other children.
