Police: Shots fired in North Charleston

Posted: Updated:

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV)-- Police in North Charleston are still searching for two suspects after shots rang out inside an apartment complex.

Officers responded to the St. James Crossing Apartments at 6520 Dorchester Road around midnight Monday for a report of shots fired in the area.

When they arrived on scene, officers said they met with a victim who told them he had just dropped off his cousin and was headed back to a nearby apartment.

The victim stated he exited his car and left it running, when he watched two black male suspects attempting to get into the vehicle.

The victim told police he walked outside and pointed his handgun at the passenger side door of the car.

Police say that is when one of the suspects inside the car pointed a gun at the victim through the windshield.

At that point the man fired several shots at the car sending the two men screeching out of the apartment complex.

The victim's vehicle was later located in Moncks Corner abandoned. No arrests have been made and no word yet on any injuries.
