Teacher accused of showing 'Jackass' no longer employed with CCSD

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A spokesperson with the Charleston County School District has confirmed a teacher accused of showing students a Jackass movie is no longer employed with Wando High School.

On February 16, Mount Pleasant police began an investigation into the claims. They met with  Wando's principal and assistant principal, who said they were alerted to the situation two days earlier by a parent saying an incident in class made her daughter "uncomfortable."

According to an incident report obtained on Monday, the incident happened while full-time Wando teacher Christopher Poston, 36, was covering another teacher's Latin class.

CCSD spokesman Jason Sakran said on Wednesday the district has "very clear-cut policies and practices in place to ensure standard of excellence in every school and classroom."

"As of today, Mr. Poston is no longer an employee of the Charleston County School District," Sakran said.

Police say Poston was accused of watching inappropriate videos on the Internet, and then putting them on the smart board for the whole class to see.

The videos reportedly included inappropriate pictures of people at Walmart and videos from the show, Jackass.

An online petition was created in support of Poston and as of Tuesday night, it had more than 1,000 signatures.
