Posted: Updated:

The Golden Eagles' hot bats went cold on Sunday, as Oral Roberts fell to Louisiana Tech 3-2 at J. L. Johnson Stadium.

After scoring 23 runs in the previous two games, ORU managed just two runs off six hits against the Bulldogs.

Jared Schlehuber hit his seventh home run of the season in the second inning, and was 2-4 with two runs to lead the ORU offense.

Kurt Giller started the game and pitched five innings, allowing one run off two hits with six strikeouts.

Louisiana Tech (14-14) was led by Alex Williams, who hit his 30th career home run off reliever Tim ZuFall in the sixth inning to give the Bulldogs their first lead of the series, 2-1.  Jamie Gilley started the game for Louisiana Tech and threw 5.1 innings, allowing one run with six strikeouts before being replaced by closer Caleb Dudley (4-0), who came on the pitch the final 3.2 innings and earn the win.

Louisiana Tech Head Coach Wade Simoneaux recorded his 250th career win.

Schlehuber's home run in the second inning gave ORU the lead, but the Bulldogs tied the game in the fifth when Kyle Ansberg opened the inning with a walk, then scored after a throwing error by Cam Schillier and an RBI single by Taylor Burch.

ORU fell behind 2-1 after the Williams' home run in the sixth, but tied the game in the eighth inning when a double by Jose Trevino and a groundout by Nate Goro brought Schlehuber around to score.

Matt Rush (0-2) came on in the ninth inning with a 2-2 tie and gave up the go-ahead run after a lead-off single by Justin Gordey and an RBI-triple by Sam Alvis.

With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 9-4 at home on the season.
