MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- South Carolina is one of 19 states affected by a recent salmonella outbreak.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is now investigating 93 cases of people who have fallen ill between January 28, 2012 and March 23, 2012.

According to a CDC report released Wednesday, five percent of those included in the cases said that they had eaten some type of sushi.

The exact contaminated food source has not been determined and the CDC and FDA are investigating the root cause of the salmonella poisoning.

Since the outbreak started, 10 people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.
