2 days of furry fun wraps up at Pet Fest

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV)-- Pets, owners, and people looking to become owners packed Palmetto Islands County Park this weekend for Pet Fest 2012.

Held by the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission, the event featured exhibits, demonstrations, experts, entertainment. Those who were in the market for a new four-legged friend were able to check out local rescue groups who had adoptable animals on site.

Highlights included the K9s in Flight Frisbee Dogs and Dock Diving shows; pet contests with Best Trick, Owner Pet Look-Alike, Face Only a Mother Could Love, Musical Sit, and Best Dog Costume prizes; and the 'Chow Down Like Your Hound Human Grade Dog Food Eating Contest.'

Also making the rounds at Pet Fest, Charleston County Parks official top dog mascot, Dusty, passed on the honor to the new 2012 Top Dog mascot, Jax, as he made his first official mascot appearance.
