Professor reacts to Haley's upcoming appearance in Vogue

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is continuing to stay in the national spot light this spring.

After releasing her book Can't Is Not an Option: My American Story in early April, Haley is set to appear in the May issue of Vogue magazine.

College of Charleston political science professor Kendra Stewart says while the Governor's appearance in Vogue may be putting the state in a more progressive light, she also questions where Haley's priorities lie.

"Is she going to be seen as someone who is really buckling down and getting the work done for South Carolina if she is writing a book, doing a book tour, appearing in national magazines," Stewart said." How much can she focus on home if she's concerned about these other things that seem maybe more frivolous to the voters of South Carolina."

Reports say the Vogue article bring up speculation that Haley could be asked to be Mitt Romney's vice presidential running-mate if he winds up with the Republican nomination. It's a rumor Haley has repeatedly knocked down.

"No interest at all, I love being the Governor of South Carolina," Haley said during an interview on Good Morning America in April. "I would not accept, I made a promise to the people of my state and I intend to keep that promise."
