NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – North Charleston police received the call just after 8:00 am Monday morning. 39-year-old Matt Renken was found shot to death in the office of Port City Liquor store on Dorchester Road.

The 911 call reveals that Renken's step dad found his body and called police.

"My son's been knocked in the head... Someone broke in sometime last night," he said during the call.

In the call, Renken's step dad says he and Renken's mother had come to the store to check on him.

"He didn't come home last night. He stopped by the store at about 9:35 p.m."

The following morning, Renken's parents arrived at the store.

"I drove up to the store just now and found him on the floor and blood's all over the place."

Police say Renken suffered a single gunshot.

Dispatch: "Is he awake?"

Renken: "No, he's not."

Police are releasing very little information in Renken's death.

If you have any information, you are urged to call Police or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
