NORTH CHARLESTON, S. C. (WCIV)- After nearly a half century of teaching the art of communicating, S. Dolores Jones has stepped away from the lectern.

Ms. Jones joined the faculty at the Baptist College at Charleston in 1967 and witnessed the school's growth to what is now Charleston Southern University.

"It's been amazing to me to see what's happened to the school and to know that it's growing,"Jones said.

Among her students- U.S. congressman Tim Scott, North Charleston mayor Keith Summey, longtime journalist and news anchor Warren Peper and more.

Jones says that she hopes to make it back to the CSU campus often in order to take in a play or sporting event.

For right now, she looks forward to "having fun and enjoying Charleston and then seeing what else I might do."
