Inmate death reported at Berkeley County detention center

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) -- A spokesman with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has confirmed a death has been reported at the Hill Finklea Detention Center.

BCSO spokesman Dan Moon said the person was found dead Wednesday morning.

We have since learned that the person was an inmate who was incarcerated for family court bench warrants.

The Berkeley County Coroner's Office has identified him as 32-year-old Jason Stout of Moncks Corner. The coroner says he was found around 10:30 a.m. and that an autopsy is scheduled. More information will be released later.

Investigators with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) have been called in to help with the investigation.
