Doctor arrested for fondling patient

FAIRFAX, S.C. (WCIV)-- Agents with the State Law Enforcement Division arrested a Fairfax doctor from Orangeburg Monday for inappropriately touching one of his female patients.

The 56-year-old doctor, Robert Major Jones, M.D., is charged with assault and battery in the second degree.

According to an affidavit, on Nov. 4,2011, Dr. Jones was seeing a patient at the Low Country Health Care System in Fairfax, SC. The patient claims Dr. Jones touched her inappropriately at the end of the exam as she tried to leave the room. She says the pushed him away and he then grabbed her again, groping her. The affidavit says she then used her elbow to fight him off before he stopped, asked her to "wait a minute so that he could calm himself down because he got too excited."

According to the affidavit, the SLED investigation includes audio and visual recordings as well as victim and witness statements.

The case is being prosecuted by the Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor's Office.
