Weather to blame for power outages at more than 2,000 homes

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Just as SCE&G crews restored power in West Ashley, North Charleston and Mount Pleasant, problems popped up in Goose Creek and Summerville.

According to the SCE&G website,approximately 560 homes are without power as of 2:55 p.m. in the Goose Creek and Summerville areas.

Earlier in the day, the hardest hit was in the Mount Pleasant area. Neighborhoods off of Chuck Dawley Boulevard had more than 700 homes without power. In North Charleston off of Park Circle, more than 620 homes were affected. Also in North Charleston, in the Brentwood area, a little more than 60 homes were waiting for power to be restored.

While Goose Creek and Summerville take their turns without power, Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston and West Ashley are back in business.

At one point Thursday, over the entire coverage area, SCE&G estimated 2,015 homes lost power.
