MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV)-- The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center is hosting "Welcome Home 2012" for all veterans, active duty, reserve and guard service members, and their families Thursday.

The free event features a job fair with over 85 employers and is held aboard the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point May 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will also be a health fair sponsored by the VA and onsite enrollment for VA healthcare and benefits.

The Riverdogs will also be on board to give away tickets to their Military Appreciation Night.

"Our Welcome Home is an excellent opportunity for the VA and the community to thank all of our Veterans for serving their country and welcome home our returning service members," said Carolyn Adams, director or the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC.

Last year over 450 veterans and their family members attended the event.

At Welcome Home veterans can find information and resources to assist them in transitioning back into the community following deployments.

The event also includes employers from throughout the Lowcountry, VA healthcare and benefits experts, area college representatives, and a VA health fair featuring screenings and information on topics like post traumatic stress and women's health.
